We need your help! What is your vision for South West Edinburgh?

Updated: Oct 1, 2021

We've recently published some short surveys to see what improvements could be made to the recent active travel schemes.

To help visualise potential improvements we also launched some mock images. These are of Lanark Road, but could easily apply in many locations across South West Edinburgh.

If you haven't already, please fill them in!

Here's some background and possible visions - what do you think?

Here's our mock-up of a crossing at Dovecot Park. What do you think?

Survey 2: options for improving junctions for pedestrians

Here's our mock up of junctions where pedestrians and bikes have priority. cars still have access but will need to slow down. What do you think?

It works well in schemes already in place in Cardiff:

Survey 3: improving parking: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Y38ZYRW

The new parking arrangement on Lanark Road is called 'floating parking'. This is where a cycle lane is in-between the pavement and the parking.

The temporary design could be improved for better accessibility. Also the floating parking could be highlighted / identified easier with trees and bollards; this will help make sure it looks like parking, not the carriageway.

Here's how Lanark Road or Longstone could look:

Similar arrangements work well in Glasgow:

and London:
